Bernie Sanders tweets new expression of support for Palestinians in Gaza
Senator Bernie Sanders, who ran against Hilary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, shared a new video in solidarity with Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip yesterday.

“The voices of the Palestinians are rarely heard,” Sanders tweeted. “This is what life is like for those who are living in Gaza under a 10 year blockade.”

The clip consists of Palestinians in Gaza speaking about life under occupation and siege.

Sanders has been a consistent critic of Israel’s lethal violence against Palestinian protesters over the last two months and has also blasted the Trump administration for its failure to take action.

“The situation in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis,” Sanders has previously stated.

The United States must play a more aggressive and even-handed role in ending the Gaza blockade and helping Palestinians and Israelis build a future that works for all.

A video released by Sanders after the deadliest day of protests stated: “Gazans have been holding weekly protests at the fence demanding an end to the ten-year blockade, the occupation, and the right to return to their former homes in Israel.”

Analysts see Sanders’ outspoken criticism of Israel, both recently and in the course of the Democratic primaries before the last election, as representative of a shift amongst the Democrats’ grassroots, where support for Palestinian rights, and opposition to Israeli policies, is on the rise.
