Conservative Mps Sign A Letter Of No Confidence In Theresa May

Theresa May, UK prime minister faces defeat over Brexit if she fails to renew the drive to push her EU withdrawal Bill through the House of Commons.

While Ms May continues to deny parliament a meaningful vote on the final deal with the EU, Tory MPs have threatened to join forces with Jeremy Corbyn’s party to impose changes.

40 Conservative MPs had agreed to sign a letter of no confidence in Theresa May while Eurosceptic cabinet ministers pushed her to take a tougher line on Brexit.

The opposition parties such as Labour announced that Ms May hasn’t enough authority over the Conservatives to secure Bill’s passage.

On Monday,  Sir Keir Starmer, Labour’s Shadow Brexit Secretary wrote a letter to Theresa May questioning her ability to manage her own party:

“Over recent weeks, it has become increasingly clear that you alone do not have the authority to deliver a transitional deal with Europe and to take the necessary steps to protect jobs and the economy.”

Tories who have opposed a hard Brexit, insisted there is no softening of their position and that they are biding their time ready to strike before Christmas while some others said they are firmly determined to insist on parliament’s right to veto a bad or no deal because Ms May has not responded to any of their concerns over recent weeks.

Ms May’s ability to survive as prime minister is questioned since she has lost two cabinet ministers in six days. She must push through her Brexit legislation this week after a torrid 10 days.
