Corbyn Urges Britons To Show Care For Homeless, Lonely And Elderly At Christmas
“Let's do all we can to bring about the kind of world we want to live in”

The Labour leader posted a Christmas message to urge Britons to think of the homeless, lonely and elderly over the festive season.

Jeremy Corbyn wished for everyone to do more to bring about “the kind of society we want to live in” and to think about those who are “cut off and lonely” and live in war-torn nations at Christmas.

Mr Corbyn asked the people to “show them you care” and emphasized that his Christmas wish is to improve their circumstances and society. “Whenever you can, show people love, show them you care.” He added.

The leader said: “At Christmas, we spend time at home with family and friends.”

“It’s a time of the year when we think about others. Like those who have no home to call their own or who are sleeping rough on our streets.”

“We think about those who feel cut off and lonely. Many older citizens to whom we owe so much will be spending what should be a time of joy alone.”

The Prime Minister used her message to pay tribute to the emergency services and service men and women stationed abroad. She said: “As we gather with our friends and family, I want to say thank you to all those whose service to others means they will be spending time away from their loved ones this Christmas.”

Theresa May also said: “As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us celebrate all those selfless acts – and countless others – that epitomise the values we share: Christian values of love, service, and compassion that are lived out every day in our country by people all faiths and none.”
