Israeli Soldier Killed Palestinian Teen, Got Promoted The Next Year [Video]

Col. Yisrael Shomer, An Israeli soldier who shot dead a 17-year-old in 2015 got promoted to command Nahal Brigade, the Israel army announced yesterday.

CCTV footage of the Israeli commander shows him shooting Muhammad Ali-Kosba after the teen threw a stone at a military vehicle in the occupied West Bank and was trying to flee.

According to Haaretz report, it was military officials said that Shomer had acted “according to the procedure for arresting a suspect – which, according to the Military Police, included firing a warning shot into the air followed by two bullets aimed at the teen’s legs.”

“However, because Shomer himself had been in motion, his aim was inaccurate and he hit Kosba’s torso, according to the investigation.”

However, Investigators of the B’Tselem human rights organization photographed Kosba’s body after his death, reporting that his body had three gunshot wounds, one in the face and two in the back.

In 2017, the Israel army closed the case by pressuring Kosba’s father, Ali, not to pursue charges against Shomer.
