Israel’s Meteor Festival: Lana Del Rey, Volvox And DJ Python Cancels Concert In Protest Against The Apartheid

After saying Tel Aviv show is not a political statement, the American pop singer Lana Del Rey cancelled a concert in Israel.

The American pop star had faced criticism from the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) movement over her decision to perform in Israel.

She initially resisted the pressure but later changed her decision and said that “It’s important to me to perform in both Palestine and Israel and treat all my fans equally.”

Earlier this month, the singer said that performing in Israel is not an endorsement of its government’s policies. However, the singer made a U-turn a week before the scheduled concert.

A number of other artists have pulled out of the Meteor Festival in Israel. More Recent cancellations include US producers DJ Python and Volvox.

In a recent tweet, DJ Python said: “that he was initially thinking of playing the festival and donating the money to Pro-Palestinian causes, before deciding to pull out altogether”.

According to the Resident Advisor report, “Shanti Celeste and DJ Seinfeld have also been removed from the Meteor lineup, but did not release public statements”.

Leon Vynehall, Honey Dijon, Midori Takada, Nina Kraviz, Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington and DJ Koze are the Artists due to play Meteor in September.
