“Like Button Pressed By Accident”; Jeremy Hunt Makes Gaffe After He ‘Liked’ A Tweet About Justine Greening Quitting The Cabinet
Jeremy Hunt Liked the post: “BREAKING: Justine Greening has quit the government.”

The Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt who was kept on his post in a reshuffle day for Theresa May, was caught ‘liking’ a tweet by a political journalist announcing his party colleague Justine Greening had left the government.

Theresa May suffered a setback on Monday when Mrs Greening resigned instead of being moved from the role of education secretary to that of work and pensions secretary. She said leaving government was “right thing to do” as reshuffle continues. The PM was left “disappointed” but respected her decision, Number 10 sources said.

Later, in an embarrassing gaffe, Mr Hunt clicked the like button on the tweet which reads: “BREAKING: Justine Greening has quit the government.”

Then, a journalist who writes for political blog Guido posted a grab of Mr Hunt liking the comment with the word “Ouch”.

Mr Hunt, who was taking pleasure in Mrs Greening quitting, was forced to explain why he had “liked” the tweet.

“Like button pressed by accident. Justine was an excellent minister and will be a great loss to govt.” he tweeted.

Earlier, Conservatives’ official Twitter account announced that Transport Chris Grayling had been appointed as Tory Chairman, but the tweet was deleted just 27 seconds later, while being shared by thousands of MPs and activists. The party later confirmed he would remain as Transport Secretary.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, Chancellor Philip Hammond, Brexit Secretary David Davis, Home Secretary Amber Rudd, Trade Secretary Liam Fox and Environment Secretary Michael Gove stayed put.
